Rooted Impact is a small web design studio serving grassroots nonprofits, advocacy organizations, unions, and community groups. You work directly with me — not an account manager, not a junior contractor

Most web designers haven't sat inside a nonprofit, managed a scrappy digital program, or tried to update a website while a campaign was running. I have.

Before founding Rooted Impact, I spent years as a digital communications manager collaborating with movement organizations — running websites, managing CRMs, and handling social media for teams doing organizing and advocacy work. That's why Rooted Impact exists. Not to build beautiful websites for their own sake, but to build digital foundations your organization can actually rely on.

Every website I build has one job: make your work easier, not harder. For nonprofits and advocacy organizations, that means treating your site as infrastructure. Not a brochure. A tool for mobilizing supporters, shifting narratives, and building power.

What to expect when we work together

Nonprofit teams wear a lot of hats, and I've built my process around that reality. You won't be chasing me for updates. You'll know what's coming next, what I need from you, and when to expect each deliverable.

Before we start, I spend time understanding how your team actually works — your tools, your rhythms, your capacity. That means fewer surprises mid-project and systems your team will actually use once I hand them over.

If something's not working, I'll say so. We adjust and move forward.

Some projects occasionally call for an extra set of hands. When they do, I bring in developers or designers I know and trust. You work with me from start to finish. I just don't always build alone.
